I've wanted to see Mumford & Sons for some time now and I finally got my chance. They did not disappoint. They put on a great performance in a sold-out Key Arena.

Kraft had a job opening in Seattle. I expressed some interest and apparently they want me there so bad that they gave me an offer last week. So, I'm moving to Seattle at the end of May. Go Sounders!

Whenever you have a new chapter in life you meet new people. With this upcoming transition, I want to keep a "First Impression Journal." I want to record my first impressions of people I meet and review it later. It seems like it's always entertaining to remember what your first impressions were and whether they were dead on or way off.

I heart Boston. I finally got to visit Boston this past weekend for my first time. At the top of my list was to attend a Red Sox game at Fenway. It was magical. It was a highlight to sing along with all of Fenway "Sweet Caroline" before the bottom of the 8th inning.

And almost just as good, was to dance to "I'm shipping out to Boston" as Jonathan Papelbon took the mound... the crowd went crazy.

Pops and I had the privilege of witnessing the Gophers take down the No. 24 Hawkeyes. The game was a grand experience, especially for our first visit to the new TCF Bank Stadium. As the game ended, there was a "rushing of the field." We joined the festivities.

Not only did we get to rush the field, but we gave players high-fives AND we got to pat Floyd of Rosedale as players hoisted it up!

Best of all, I got to see my Dad turn into a 19-year-old. He had the time of his life and it was great to witness. The picture kind of captures the moment. Look at that grin. I wish I could bottle up the experience and give it to him for Christmas.

Also, a little unknown/useless fact... did you know the brand Enyce (not to be confused with 4-Slyce), is pronounced "en-ne-che." It was part of my costume for halloween, I learned the the hard way, pronouncing it like "e-nice." Silly me, Trix are for kids.

My latest grocery shopping trip was to my local co-op, a first for me. Thoughts:

I felt "hip," kind of in a cool way, but more in a hippy way
I should have ridden my bicycle there
I felt healthy just entering the place; "organic" was everywhere, that means healthy, right?
I felt proud to support the local economy by purchasing all these local goods (What a great battle, but what an uphill battle....)
I was surprised to find that you can still find good prices compared to a normal store

And maybe the biggest thought:

The cereal aisle just didn't do it for me. I'm a fan of healthy cereal, but walking down the aisle all I could think was "tastes like cardboard." And I'm right, it does taste like cardboard

Moral of the story: Love co-ops (healthy, support local, feel cool...); however, buy cereal elsewhere.

I made the move back home to Minnesota. On my first week on the job out here, I visited the Kraft branch in Fargo, ND and attended their sales meeting. I felt like it was a scene straight from the movie "New In Town." It was classic. Everyone was so nice and had such great accents. It was freezing up in Fargo, wind chill advisories and warnings reaching -40 degrees. You know it's cold when you pull into a grocery store parking lot and there are multiple cars running without anyone in them. Here's a picture from the Kraft Fargo branch. It was a great experience.

Ever since visiting Washington D.C. for my first time, when I hear about Obama or other political issues on the news... I've been paying more attention. I think the tour of the Capitol and seeing congress in session really did something to me.

Going up the Washington Monument reminded my a lot of the Eiffel Tower. In the picture you can see the Washington D.C. temple way back there on the horizon (above the White House and a little to the left).

The trip was great. It was a pretty complete trip; from a Nationals game to museums to a Chuck Brown concert to memorials to Colonial 1st ward to the metro to seeing friends/cousin to eating at Kabob Palace to going to the DC temple... Click here for more pics.

We did a roadtrip to Colorado to cheer on Lance Armstrong in the Leadville Trail 100 and bike on the highest paved road in North America.

We got to Leadville, CO around 1:30AM and slept in the car before the 6:30AM race.

We saw the man up close and personal. Russell even carried on a brief conversation with him... "hey lance, we drove from utah and slept in our car last night...." Lance replied, "Cool, cool. Why didn't you bring any [stinkin'] sun with you..." He smoked us on his bike going up this hill. I have much respect for Bald Mountain. I biked on the highest paved road in Utah. Started at Kamas, UT and biked east for 30 miles to reach the summit. Over 4,000 feet of climbing. I felt like I had some sort of altitude sickness later that night.

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile made a stop at the West Valley Walmart. When I started my job as a Sales Rep for Kraft, I thought I was going to be driving one of these.

It was fascinating to talk to the "hotdoggers," the official wienermobile drivers. They drive the Wienermobile for one full year, 7 days a week, they don't really have a home. Here's a story:

A couple days ago, I was performing my Kraft duties in the Albertson's grocery store in Park City, UT. A man came up to me asking, "Do you guys sell ice cream scoopers?"

I replied, "Sorry, I'm not sure, I don't actually work here..." A very common statement to the "where is the...." questions I receive throughout the day as I work in different grocery stores.

This man looked very familiar. I thought, "...he's gotta be some news anchor, I swear." He was wearing a baseball cap and I couldn't recall his name. I overheard him holler to his wife and call her Arlene. With that clue, I went online to detective-google this familiar face. This is the news anchor that I couldn't help find an ice cream scooper.

I wish I would've gotten him to sign a box of Wheat Thins for me...

I've never been on the radio. Yesterday was my debut. Not only did I debut, but I appeared a second time. The first time calling in I won two tickets to the AVP tour and the second time, $20 gift certificate to Nickel Mania. Thanks x96.

i constructed something

I moved into my new place in the big city of Salt Lake and was looking for furniture. I refused to buy the cheap Ikea stuff, thinking, "I could build that." So I did. I drew a plan, went to Home Depot, and constructed a nightstand/book shelf with my two bare hands. What a great experience.

I know it's good Oscar Meyer bacon (a Kraft product...), but really? How do you respond to this post? Are there Internet panhandlers out there? Everything's going digital in 2009.

Wake Forest had to rally from an eight-point deficit in the second half and an entire game of deafening taunts and chants from the home fans, who were loud and rowdy throughout the night.
"In the ACC, there's some great crowds but this one was amazing," said Jeff Teague, who led Wake Forest with 30 points, one off his career high.
The crowd of 26,096 was the second-largest in Marriott Center history and the fans, thousands in matching white BYU T-shirts, were loud and rowdy from the time the Deacons started warming up until the game ended.
Teague said the ACC crowds aren't as loud as what he faced Saturday.

We may not win, but we know how to cheer on our cougars. This was a great game to attend.
