playlist

Yesterday I made a new playlist. I have not done that in a while. It was a great experience. For some reason I enjoy making new playlists as an activity. This latest playlist consists of some Mates of State, Plain White T's, Paris Hilton, The Pack, Sufjan Stevens, and more. Quite the mix.

flash mob

I think flash mobbing is a cool topic. I would love to be a flash mob organizer. Click here to learn more about them. Here's a video of iPod dancing flash mob in Liverpool click here. It's sweet. Here's another cool one.

people want me

Exciting news in the career hunt. As of late I've been bagging on Kohl's as a future employer. They rejected me last year for an internship and I thought the interview this year didn't go too well. I would just say, "ah, they're not my kind of company." I got a call today from Kohl's telling me that they want to fly me out to Milwaukee for a two-day interview. Now that's exciting. I was planning on a rejection letter for sure. Very surprised to get this call today. I don't know what Joe (fellow classmate that is lined up to start working with Kohl's in the spring) has been telling them, but he must of said something to get their attention. They probably think I'm a genius or something. And I am a genius...

hair help

My hair is pretty long right now. The last time I cut it was the beginning of August. I'm thinking I would like to begin a mini mullet. I don't know who would do it for me. Below, thanks to technology, I was successful at finding instructions for forming a mullet. If anyone out there has hair-cutting skills, let me know.

300 million and counting

Our country just reached a population of 300 million. How did they reach that conclusion? They say that it officially hit at 7:46 a.m. (EDT) on Tuesday. Wow! Do you think they can narrow down to who the 300 millionth is? Is it a mexican walking across the border? That would be sweet to be that person. You'd be very popular.

I did a google image search and this is what I found. Apparently it's that baby.

The search continues

I went to an info session for General Mills today. It seems like a great opportunity. I'm excited for the interview tomorrow. It's seems quite competitive. I'll bring my A game. Today I got e-mails back from the Black & Decker and Cisco interviewers in reply to my thank you e-mail. I think that's a good sign.

The World is full of poor management

The moral of the story today: Poor management. It all hit me today. Three reminders in a row of poor management. This really gives me hope.

It all started with a lunch meeting with Mitch. He used to be a big wig at Ford. Now he's working for a smaller firm. My group from my Marketing Strategy class is working with Mitch to work on a marketing plan for a new product. Long story short, we had a lunch meeting scheduled for 12:30. We stayed there until a little after 1 and left. I only had his work number and left him a message. A little after 2 o' clock he called me from his cell phone saying that they were running late from the office and showed up and couldn't find us. The end.

So I wasn't too frustrated with that, it's understandable. Then right after the careless "luncheon," I had an interview scheduled at 1:45 p.m. with Cisco Systems for a Sales Associate position. They notified me the night before by e-mail saying that I had an interview. In the late-notifying e-mail, they included instructions to arrive 15 minutes early. I show up a little before 1:45 to find out my interviewer is going to be late. Mark, the interviewer, showed up at 2:05. What kind of company is that? The interview went well in the end. And up until now, I still wasn't too frustrated.

It was when I called up Lori, the land lady from hell. I've been working with her for the past two months trying to receive my deposit of $120. She never returns phone calls, she doesn't write anything down, and she doesn't cater what so ever to the customer. After the first couple weeks of requesting my deposit, I waited for it in the mail. Nothing came. I called Lori to inquire of the deposit. "Oh, you actually didn't pay your deposit...." OK, well thanks for calling me to inform me.... oh wait, you didn't. The management for my apartment had switched from one company to hers. There has been a lot of confusion, because both companies are unorganized. So, she finally looked into it and found out that I actually did pay a $200 deposit. So let's continue on, "Oh, you actaully didn't pay a month of rent." It turns out I did, my roommate paid it for me because I was out of town. The old management company had the same problem, but I fixed it with them. So after calling Lori, leaving messages, Lori not calling back, calling again, talking to Lori, and refreshing her of my situation it turns out that the onwners are out of town until the end of october, so I have wait until then.

Thanks for reading, that felt good to let out.

Keep on Branding

Looking towards graduation is exciting. Who knows what will happen afterwards. Quite exhilarating. Today I'm interviewing with Kohl's, on Thursday with Black & Decker, and next week with General Mills. Then later in the month I have another interview. Also, I'm in touch with Mrs. Fields and Taylor Made.

Do I want to eat cookies or play golf?
Do I want to go into retail?
Where will I be?
Where is the best place for me?

I don't know what's going to happen, but I'm going to keep building my brand.

Superfan

A BYU Superfan's debut on ESPN

I went to the BYU vs. SDSU football game. BYU won and beautiful weather made for a great game. Above is a video clip of my glory days. I used to be a really great fan, and even got on ESPN. I've gone down hill since, but it's fun to reminisce.

Band Practice

Last night, Clynt and I had a sweet band practice. We're still working with the name of the band. The evolution of the name is as follows: Me Chinese, Saint McQuist, Oh me. Oh my., F#F, and now it's Broonhead. We really like Broonhead. In commemoration have started a new band blog: http://broonhead.blogspot.com. It was a great practice last night. Slowly but surely.

Clyntominium

This past weekend I visited Clynt's first condominium. He just bought it. He started to move in this last week. It's a cool thought to have your own condominium. I included a picture that resembles Clynt's situation right now of buying a new condo. It shows a happy new buyer of a condo, except replace the girl with Nick...
