props to mr. beck

John Beck is rockin' the mullet. Well done, here are some other views of this beauty. This should assist in his campaign to become the Redskin's starting QB.

61 going on 19...

Pops and I had the privilege of witnessing the Gophers take down the No. 24 Hawkeyes. The game was a grand experience, especially for our first visit to the new TCF Bank Stadium. As the game ended, there was a "rushing of the field." We joined the festivities.

Not only did we get to rush the field, but we gave players high-fives AND we got to pat Floyd of Rosedale as players hoisted it up!

Best of all, I got to see my Dad turn into a 19-year-old. He had the time of his life and it was great to witness. The picture kind of captures the moment. Look at that grin. I wish I could bottle up the experience and give it to him for Christmas.

save turkeys, eat tofu...

I've never heard about turkey adoption before. I'm glad there's people like this. So are they saying that a turkey's life is worth $30... really?

For those concerned about Turkeys this week, please visit http://www.adoptaturkey.org/.

'tis the thankful season...

Well done Thanksgiving video... and there's a great shout out to Macaroni and Cheese.

I'm grateful for the periodic feeling of success and a good song on the radio at the same time. I'm grateful for learning. I'm grateful for friends and family. I'm grateful for faith in Christ.

What are YOU grateful for?

where is funkytown?

I learned that Funkytown is a product of Minneapolis... I'm going to keep an eye out for it. I'll let you know when I find it. That claim to fame is right up there with Lee Greenwood's shout-out, "from the lakes of Minnesota." Or maybe not...

Also, a little unknown/useless fact... did you know the brand Enyce (not to be confused with 4-Slyce), is pronounced "en-ne-che." It was part of my costume for halloween, I learned the the hard way, pronouncing it like "e-nice." Silly me, Trix are for kids.

minnesota sports...

'09-'10 Minnesota Timberwolves: 15-67. Sad season. Quote: "The Minnesota Timberwolves remain one of the NBA's absolute worst teams."

'10 Minnesota Twins: 94-68. AL Central Champions. Great season, new stadium, but the last Yankees series was a huge disappointment.

'10 Minnesota Golden Gophers Football: 1-7, so far. This record includes a tough loss to U of SD (South Dakota), and it's official Coach Brewster is fired.

'10 Minnesota Vikings: 2-4, so far. Favre and Moss giving us hope... not looking good. Favre must be having some serious regrets. He's looking old. Recent tough loss to the Packers.

Where do I turn for joy in sports....?
'10 BYU Cougars: 3-5, so far. I can't even find joy in watching my out-of-state Cougars. They barely squeezed out 3 wins so far.

I caught myself beginning to look up my alma mater High School basketball schedule... Go Falcons!

co-op virgin no more

My latest grocery shopping trip was to my local co-op, a first for me. Thoughts:
  • I felt "hip," kind of in a cool way, but more in a hippy way
  • I should have ridden my bicycle there
  • I felt healthy just entering the place; "organic" was everywhere, that means healthy, right?
  • I felt proud to support the local economy by purchasing all these local goods (What a great battle, but what an uphill battle....)
  • I was surprised to find that you can still find good prices compared to a normal store
And maybe the biggest thought:
  • The cereal aisle just didn't do it for me. I'm a fan of healthy cereal, but walking down the aisle all I could think was "tastes like cardboard." And I'm right, it does taste like cardboard
Moral of the story: Love co-ops (healthy, support local, feel cool...); however, buy cereal elsewhere.

the award for most popular Oct 2010 talk goes to...

I wonder if General Authorities check iTunes after General Conference weekend to see how popular their talk is...
It appears that President Monson's talk from the Priesthood Session takes the prize...

PB with attitude

I bought some peanut butter. Since when did Peanut Butter start to feel so inclined to declare (bolded and boxed...) "Contains Peanut" on the jar? I like it, this jar has confidence and confidence is a good.
(Are there imposter Peanut Butters out there...? They call themselves Peanut Butter, but they do not contain Peanuts...?)

slander...?

There have been questions from friends throughout the country wondering if I texted in a photo to Domino's concerning an awful looking pizza... it was not me. This new Domino's pizza commercial proves that it was not me. Consider this myth busted....

high commuter

I recently moved my place of residence and am more Minneapolis than ever before. It's a neat neighborhood with character. I left my home this morning to come across this:
And if you look a little closer, you can see what I saw:

Awesome. Minneapolis is truly a big bicycling city... or should I say tall. Yuk, yuk...

chris williams

This past weekend I had the privilege of hearing Chris Williams speak about forgiveness and the power of the Savior's Atonement. When you have a free 8 minutes and 24 seconds you should watch this video. He said a couple years before this tragedy he really was impacted by the story in this talk and decided he would forgive others too.

josh ritter live

I got to see Josh Ritter live with the Minnesota Orchestra. A great performance.

this is an empty floss container

I have emptied this dental floss container. I think it may have taken 4 years or so, but for some reason I gain a sense of accomplishment from using the first yard to the 125th yard... When I bought it, contemplating in front of the wall of floss options at Walmart, I tried to grasp the length of 125 yards of dental floss. I think I grasped it and I am proud of it.

back home

I made the move back home to Minnesota. On my first week on the job out here, I visited the Kraft branch in Fargo, ND and attended their sales meeting. I felt like it was a scene straight from the movie "New In Town." It was classic. Everyone was so nice and had such great accents. It was freezing up in Fargo, wind chill advisories and warnings reaching -40 degrees. You know it's cold when you pull into a grocery store parking lot and there are multiple cars running without anyone in them. Here's a picture from the Kraft Fargo branch. It was a great experience.
