short runway

In my attempts to plan a trip, I have learned about Princess Juliana International Airport on St. Martin island. According to wikipedia, the runway is incredibly short and the planes need to fly low to land. The beach right there is known for planes flying right over you. I also learned that there's a hobby called "plane spotting." This airports a good place for it.

I believe that this goes hand in hand with the geeks that love trainspotting.

You weren't joking about that. I was going to make fun, but there are trainspotting people. Also known as "railfans." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railfan
